Good $TIME_OF_DAY! As you know, the Steering Committee met this past
Tuesday to discuss a number of topics. We verified the details for the
October meetings (for which a separate email will be sent out in the coming
days) and began discussing November in more detail. Overall, that part was
pretty par for the course.

We also discussed the new web site and the lunch location. The feedback on
the web site has been very positive. That means everyone likes it,
everyone's being really nice, or the dissenters just haven't raised their
voices. Regardless of what the case may be, we decided to consider the
issue closed and press on. We did identify some content that has not been
migrated, and will be working on fixing that. Blogging support was also
requested for the site, so we'll be looking in to how to make that happen.
Stay tuned for details on that.

feedback on the lunch
location<http://okcjug.org/component/option,com_poll/task,results/id,16/>(the
University of Phoenix) has likewise been very positive, with most
either preferring it or more or less indifferent. There were a few that
didn't like it, but, given the mostly positive feedback, the decision was
made to move the lunch meetings there, and, starting in November, we will move
the evening meetings
there<http://okcjug.org/component/option,com_poll/task,results/id,17/>as
well. This will accomplish a couple of things. First, it reduces the
cost on our sponsors, as we get the room all day for one low price. As a
completely sponsor-supported organization, we've been very conscious of what
we ask our sponsors to pay (as well as how frequently) so as not to become a
burden. We greatly value their financial support, so anything we can to
make that less onerous the better things are for all of us. By using the
UoP exclusively, we reduce the cost to our sponsors by approximately 25%,
which I'm sure they'll appreciate.

Second, the University of Phoenix offers us consistency. What we want to
avoid is moving the meeting from one location to another each month. Moving
it like that only serves to confuse attendees and doesn't do anyone any
good. Having the lunch and evening meetings in the same place also makes it
really easy to remember where to go, as there's only one location. We're
going to run with that for a few months, then try to gauge how well it's
working out. If it's not working well, we'll reevaluate things sometime
early next year.

Looking at the speaking schedule, we have plenty of openings. If anyone is
interested in speaking, please let us know. We're even willing to help you
develop your presentation if you're not sure how to go about that. The best
way to learn something is to teach someone else. Here's your chance to
challenge yourself. :)

Remember: This month, THE LOCATIONS DO NOT CHANGE: UoP for lunch and
Computer Club of Oklahoma City for the evening. We'll make sure to send out
an "impossible" to miss notice in time for the November meetings.

I think that's about it. Please let us know if you have questions or
comments.
