[OKC JUG] Fun Questions about Java

My son often asks me my favorite <something> and I always hedge with "well,
I really like..."

I really like the vibrant open source java community.
I don't like the lack of first class functions or closed class definitions.
I like the tendency to focus on the deployable artifact or application
rather than the tools we use to get there.
I don't like some tendencies I have seen in organizations who use java in a
big way. They tend to constrain, govern, and enforce where they could
enable, challenge, and explore.
I like the focus java people seem to have on building things to last rather
than planning to rewrite.
I don't like complex classloader configuration, app server quirks, and
especially JTA.
