I just put the following announcement out on the Tulsa Java Users Group
website at

Members of the OKC JUG should also find this to be a useful announcement.

After our awesome presentation (Golden Rules for Managing your
Architecture) by Alexander von Zeitzewitz on January 5th, members of the
Tulsa Java Users Group will find the following announcement (Free SonarJ
Community Edition) to be very interesting!!!
Hello2morrow Launches Free Community Edition of SonarJ
To support the Java community in a difficult economic environment
hello2morrow decided to create a free Community Edition of SonarJ. The
Community Edition is the full product limited to 500 internal classes
(approx. 50 to 60 KLOC), which should already cover the majority of all
projects.
The company hopes, that many developers will make use of the free
offering. Active architecture management can save between 30 and 50% of
the total development and maintenance cost of a typical project. Clear
and cycle free dependency structures not only improve testability, but
also readability and reusability of code. The earlier you integrate
architecture management in your development process the higher are the
potential savings. Following five or six simple architectural and
quality related rules will make your project better than 95% of all
projects with comparable size and complexity.
Bigger projects still need a commercial license. But the new pricing
model makes using SonarJ more affordable. You can start for free and
then upgrade your license later when you already got some value provided
by the tool. You basically can pay your hen with the eggs.
SonarJ is an architecture management tool for Java. Software architects
use SonarJ to define architecture and quality rules, which will then be
monitored in the IDE (Eclipse) on the developer’s workplace. By using
the IDE plugin developers can detect and fix architecture violations in
the moment they are created. In April 2007 SonarJ won the second prize
of the Jax Innovation Award. The developers of the Spring Framework are
using SonarJ to keep the technical quality of Spring on the high level
expected by their global use base.
To obtain a free community license you must be registered on our website
Hello2morrow <http://www.hello2morrow.com>. As soon as you are an
approved user you can download the tool and request your free license key.
