The Steering Committee met yesterday and decided that for our November
meeting we would have several 'lightning talks'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_talk
Each presenter will have 20 slides and will have 15 seconds to talk about
the slide before the next slide is shown. So 5 minutes and you are done.

We should be able to have 7-10 of these and we would like some non-steering
committee members to volunteer to give a lightning talk.

This should be a fun meeting and please volunteer to give a talk so I don't
have too. You don't want that 'cause I'll pick Cobol '74 or RPG II
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPG_II.

I've gone through the last year's suggested topics and listed them below.
But, feel free to suggest a different topic.

groovy grails ide comparison (like netbeans -vs- eclipse) ide overview
webservice - rest, soap, etc persisance (jpa, hibernate...) best practices
(testing, writting clean code.. jsf seam spring (web flow, security, 3.0...)
scala mobile app development jql jquery facelets icefaces ajax java fx easyb
(bdd) game development how to give a presentation Google collection how to
give tech presentations. Image Makeovers Ivy Jakarta Commons Joda Time JSON
in Java JSP LDAP MuleESB Portal Threads & OO Concepts XHTML/CSS
I think Balsamiq Mockups is a good candidate.

Added bonus: According to their website if you contact them first before
demoing it to 15+ people, they'll give the speaker a license and another
license to give away. I already have a license so if I did it, we'd have two
copies to give away. http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mockups/desktop

Surely someone will volunteer for this one and give themselves a guaranteed
copy.
