[Steering Committee] SC Meeting Notes

I'm a bit slow getting these out, but here are my notes (BTW, this would be
a GREAT category for some sort of CMS-based, searchable web site... ;)


We asked "what can we do to make the JUG better."  Here's what we got:
"More interesting" topics wanted:

   - Spring 2.1
   - Acegi
   - "Less unit testing and i18n" (sorry if that hurts.  I'm just
   reporting what was said :)
   - JPA/Hibernate (perhaps a compare and contrast)
   - Seam (which I think I'm going to do in September unless we have a
   speaker lined up that's not on the schedule.  Or if someone else wants that
   month)

More "external" speakers was mentioned

>From my notes, it appears the Ryan is on the hook for an October
presentation on ReST

GDH "would be happy to sponsor", putting out sponsor list at

   - GDH

   - Addison
   - Atlassian

The ORA offer of free books for reviews was mentioned

August:

   - Hello JUG - I was going to do this on the Collections framework, but
   I'll be out of town, so I'll do it in October (see topics above)
   - Ryan's taking care of the sponsors
   - Room is booked at FT

We discussed participating in Tulsa Techfest (http://www.tulsatechfest.com/)
for a Java track.  Anyone interested (and I'll post on the main list in just
a few) needs to speak up soon so we can get on the schedule.

We also need to address seriously the problem with room scheduling for our
