Of late he's been giving talks related to software professionalism in different languages. Here's the one he's giving tonight at agile Houston:

However, he's got a few. I'll talk to him tonight to see what he's got up his sleeve. I've also CC'd him so he can respond when he has enough time to stop recording videos for some training we're developing...

p.s. Bob, disregard that previous email. I should have figured out Ryan was being sarcastic, he's managed to rope me in on more than one occasion.

Yes, I'm sorry. I should have said "Application for Permission to
Propose a Topic for Consideration by the Esteemed Steering Committee"
:)
We'd love to have Bob. What's he going to talk about?

Well if that's the case, then let me say "OUCH" as I remove the hook he so
skillfully buried deep into my cheek!
BTW, just taught the first day of our 3-day course on concurrency (which I
will steal from for the September talk). Pretty smooth for a first-cut - not
without bumps, but pretty solid so far.

I think Ryan was joking. I hope he was, as I have no idea what he's talking
about. :P

I've forwarded this email on to Bob, so realize that I am neither
evading or filtering the request from Bob.

So how long has the submittal process involved using two forms?
When did the process become a process?
I'm confused at the need for a process, have we become so big that we
need bureaucracy? Or it is more related to how we communicate and the
fact that there's essentially a distributed group? (In reality, I'm
really not part of the WE because I've never been to a steering
committee meeting.) Did the APLN get their hands on the group somehow?
What problems are these forms solving or what's the specific business
value is added by having such forms?
I know I am biased because I work for Bob, but he has been an
industry-recognized leader for several years - long before I worked
for him. Do we really need a presenter evaluation form for him?
(Again, remember I forward this email on to Bob so I'm asking because
it sounds silly to me but I'm also conforming so I really am questing
the sanity of the request WHILE going along with the inmates.) BTW,
if the answer is yes, we need to evaluate Bob Martin, then I suspect
I better fill out the same documentation for the September
presentation because if his 25+ years of experience, books, papers,
numerous presentations and keynotes at several conferences as well as
being one of the primaries on the Manifest of Agile Development does
not immediately qualify him as a potential presenter, then my few
talks at the JUG sure as hell should not qualify me for a talk since
I have never filled out this form. And if I'm completely off basis on
my interpretation of "Presenter Evaluation Form" then maybe it should
be renamed.
He's not going to care about any of this, he's very easy going. I
really don't care about the specifics of asking Bob for these things.
I'm really trying to get an understanding of what these two forms are
doing when I've never seen nor heard of these things.

Sounds good. Do you have some topic proposals he can present to the
JUG Presentation Committee for approval?
Jason, send him the Application to Propose a JUG Presentation Topic
and the Presenter Evaluation Form so we can start the process.

I'm checking his schedule but you think that might work?
Works for me.
